Our bernedoodle, Ursa, brings us endless joy and laughs.
For those comfortable with dogs, Ursa is beyond happy to greet students
upon their arrival offering about as much wiggle-butt action a dog can give.

Growing up, there was always music on in the house.

Tunes rotated from a lot of 60’s rock to sweeping instrumental movie soundtracks, powerhouses like Tina Turner, R&B/Soul, songwriter masters like Joan Baez and Joni Mitchell, and piano legends like Elton John and Billy Joel. Hawaiian slack key guitar would play on occasion and the worlds of jazz and standards were
introduced to me by my grandmother.

As a born-and-raised Pacific Northwest girl,

I have spent parts of my life in Oregon, Eastern Washington, approximately EVERY apartment in Seattle, and have now landed in Ballard with my husband and dog, where we have turned each nook and cranny of the yard into garden space.

My husband Rich (who is the “science” in our Science-Meets-Art union) and I have been publicly married since June of 2019 when we pulled a fast-one on our family and friends and turned our “engagement party” into a surprise wedding ceremony in our backyard after quietly eloping in the Olympic Peninsula in December of 2018 (on a miraculously beautiful and sunny day) and experiencing the happiest day of our lives.

Into The Woods at Village Theatre (Cinderella)

Alongside my theater career, I’ve been teaching voice lessons for 8 years…

…and I have had many of the same wonderful students for the majority of that time. Students geared towards musical theater have been cast in productions at Village Theatre’s Kidstage, Seattle Youth Opera, Broadway Bound, and Stage Struck. One has starred as the titular role in a local production of Annie, and many have had a number of callbacks at 5th Avenue Theatre, Village Theatre, and ACT.

I am a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing through which I attend workshops to get the latest vocal science and pedagogy and I’m a graduate of the Voice Teacher Training Program through New York Vocal Coaching led by Justin Stoney.

I’ve studied singing through private voice lessons with multiple teachers over the years, one of which I continue to study with for “tune ups” or when prepping a vocally demanding role. Additionally, in 2021 I concluded my final year at a local home-school co-op where I was the resident theater and singing teacher since 2013 and I have directed many youth productions with Stage Struck in West Seattle since 2012.

Among the vast range of music I was exposed to,

there were always musicals.

I was so taken by them, whether it was attending musicals in-person, watching the films, or listening to the soundtracks… I loved all of it.

After dedicating loads of high school hours to musicals and plays and frequent choir and dance team performances, I moved to Seattle to attend the University of Washington where I received a Bachelor of Arts in Theater.

Since then, I’ve worked at various theatres over the last 11 years, receiving a Gregory Award for my performance as Kate in The Wild Party and three additional Gregory Nominations for other previous work.

Throughout my career I’ve starred in Village Theatre productions of She Loves Me (Amalia Balash), My Fair Lady (Eliza Doolittle) and in Into The Woods as Cinderella. Other productions include The Pavilion and Proof, both with Strawberry Theatre Workshop (a favorite local theatre of mine), Cabaret and Les Miserables (Village Theatre), The Threepenny Opera (Seattle Shakespeare Company), and 33 Variations (ArtsWest). I’ve also performed with Seattle Children’s Theatre, Book-It Repertory Theatre, Taproot Theatre, and have been in various productions at Coeur d’Alene Summer Theatre including another round of Eliza Doolittle.

When I’m not performing or teaching behind the piano, I’m tending to the garden, spoiling the dog, throwing dinner parties with Rich, doing all the PNW stuff like running, kayaking, and hiking, as well as attending the theatre, live music, and traveling… and playing in the sun whenver it’s out.
